Archadia Architects and Planners Case Study

The Customer

Established over 25 years ago, Archadia has extensive experience in housing, health and special needs, education, and public buildings. Their expertise lies in supported housing for older people and people with disabilities, and several of their specialist housing projects have won awards.

The Directors are actively involved in every project and care about meeting the needs of their clients and the end users of the building.

The Challenge

Archadia had experienced intermittent problems with the office network cabling. PSG Networks were invited to audit, review and make recommendations to upgrade the cabling infrastructure where needed.

The audit would also include cable routes, the communications cabinet, network services, switch capacity and telephone system including monthly operating costs.

The legacy Meridian telephone system is no longer supported. It provided limited functionality and no upgrade path existed for the product. PSG were asked to provide ad-hoc support for the system during the review.

Archadia wanted a solution that enabled workplace flexibility, to empower employees to work from the office or remotely. The platform should be robust, reliable, future proof, easy to manage and support, and ideally reduce their operating costs.

We needed a solution that offered flexible working, was easy to manage, would grow with the company, all whilst delivering cost savings, PSG Networks delivered this and more.

The Solution

Communications cabinet change over and removal of obsolete cabling and hardware. Creation of a cabling route between floors, and additional network cabling. Migration of network services to a Converged Broadband connection.

PSG recommended the Horizon Cloud PBX, a complete hosted communications service that provides businesses with extensive fixed and mobile telephony capabilities, accessed via an easy-to-use web portal.

The main office number and direct dialling number range were transitioned to the hosted platform. New desktop SIP phones were deployed, and the mobile applications installed. PSG Smart Hands provided the professional service and desktop deployment.

What that does...

By providing new infrastructure cabling, the client was able to increase capacity, add, move or change the office configuration to meet the needs of staff and visitors.

The new communications cabinet supports the active and passive network hardware and cabling in a safe and secure environment. The Unified Communications platform provides a robust and reliable agile working tool, enabling Archadia employees to work any time, any place from any device.

PSG manages the platform, including system upgrades. Deployed with no upfront costs on hardware or software, and no costly PBX maintenance or upgrades to schedule. Archadia take advantage of low-cost and free IP calling in a bundled package. The solution is priced on a per-user basis with all items rolled into a monthly fee.
